Is there such thing as too many tacos? No. Definitely not. Which is why you should literally eat tacos for every meal while you’re in Loreto, Mexico. That’s what I did (#noregretz), and here are my favorites!
Café Olé
A convenient lunch spot with affordable prices despite having prime outdoor seating on the main pedestrian street next to the Mission. We got fish tacos and chicken fajitas. The fish tacos had a lot of uncooked veggies, so I felt a little sick afterwards (probably from the water used to wash them). But the fajitas were delicious and I would definitely go back for them.
El Rey Del Taco
An authentic taco place that is truly the “King of the Taco” and a favorite among locals. I got the fish tacos but most of the locals were ordering the cabeza tacos (cow head – much intrigue). This place is truly fast and fresh food, the chef hands them over to you as he makes the tacos. There’s condiments are self-serve and not for the faint of stomach.
Mi Loreto
Gorgeous setting at nighttime to sit back and chat over some tacos and a margarita (or two). It felt like a family run business with the parents managing, sons waiting, and grandma (with some missing teeth) cooking. The staff was super friendly and the food quality was great.
Margaritas & More
The best food group to pair with tacos are margaritas (obvi). There are so many places to go and I’ll admit we kind of made our way through the town a margarita at a time. Some highlights include: Meditarraneo on the waterfront, all of the places on the main plaza, and Mike’s Bar by the Mission. Also, keep an eye out for great happy hour deals like $5 ceviche!
